Dinovember Update

Hi!

To all of you who have followed this blog, it turns out this November is busy beyond what we could have imagined.  In an attempt to be kind to myself, I am allowing myself to put Dinovember 2019 on hold, perhaps re-animating the dinosaurs at a later time.  No need to worry--things are fine.  It is just time for me to start saying "no" to a few more things in order to get other things done. ;)

Dinovember 2019, Day 15:

Of course Dinny waited until the last day to start his UW application.

At least his friends realized he could use some help reaching the keys.
Better get Greeny away from that delete key, though!

Dinovember 2019, Day 11:

By the time Dinny yelled "those are Amanita muscaria!"
it was already too late--
just look at Greeny's eyes!

Dinovember 2019, Day 10:

Next time they read Shel Silverstein together,
Dinny will NOT let Greeny sneak off to get a snack
without hearing the whole poem first. . .

Peanut Butter Sandwich, by Shel Silverstein

I'll sing you a poem of a silly young king
Who played with the world at the end of a string,
But he only loved one single thing--
And that was just a peanut-butter sandwich.

His scepter and his royal gowns,
His regal throne and golden crowns
Were brown and sticky from the mounds
And drippings from each peanut-butter sandwich.

His subjects all were silly fools
For he had passed a royal rule
That all that they could learn in school
Was how to make a peanut-butter sandwich.

He would not eat his sovereign steak,
He scorned his soup and kingly cake,
And told his courtly cook to bake
An extra-sticky peanut-butter sandwich.

And then one day he took a bit
And started chewing with delight,
But found his mouth was stuck quite tight
From that last bite of peanut-butter sandwich.

His brother pulled, his sister pried,
The wizard pushed, his mother cried,
"My boy's committed suicide
From eating his last peanut-butter sandwich!"

The dentist came, and the royal doc.
The royal plumber banged and knocked,
But still those jaws stayed tightly locked.
Oh darn that sticky peanut-butter sandwich!

The carpenter, he tried with pliers,
The telephone man tried with wires,
The firemen, they tried with fire,
But couldn't melt that peanut-butter sandwich.

With ropes and pulleys, drills and coil,
With steam and lubricating oil--
For twenty years of tears and toil--
They fought that awful peanut-butter sandwich.

Then all his royal subjects came.
They hooked his jaws with grapplin' chains
And pulled both ways with might and main
Against that stubborn peanut-butter sandwich.

Each man and woman, girl and boy
Put down their ploughs and pots and toys
And pulled until kerack! Oh, joy--
They broke right through that peanut-butter sandwhcih

A puff of dust, a screech, a squeak--
The king's jaw opened with a creak.
And then in voice so faint and weak--
The first words that they heard him speak
Were, "How about a peanut-butter sandwich?"

Dinovember 2019, Day 9:

Greeny admitted defeat when it was clear dinos could climb impromptu stairs
better than a slippery plastic ramp.
Looks like Dinny is ready for competition!

Dinovember 2019, Day 8:

Each dino expressed their own creative side during the "draw a star" art class.
Greeny didn't appreciate Dinny's meteor-is-a-star interpretation.

Dinovember 2019, Day 7:

Despite the fact that the board's vote tonight could change what classes they take next year, the dinos couldn't hold it together and began to fall asleep watching the Seattle Public Schools board meeting. (Of course the important vote was the LAST point of business!

Dinovember 2019, Day 6:

Early poll results indicate the party planner is going to win!
The dinos exuberantly dove into their victory party,
assuming that the fun will never end
and that parties will be the new normal at the Dino city council.
Who knows what the tax consequences will be,
but I guess they thought parties are more friendly than empty chairs??

Dinovember 2019, Day 5:

When the dinos went to vote for their city council member,
they discovered they had the same choice the humans did--
a new party planner, or the incumbent empty chair!

Who would you choose?!

Dinovember 2019 Day 4:

The Dinos thought more tormenting of the spider was necessary.

Sunday, November 3, 2019

Dinovember 2019 Day 3:

The Dinos were not sympathetic
when one of the Halloween spiders
escaped the garage and tried to join in on the fun.

Dinovember 2019: Day 2

Greeny was surprised and hurt
when he realized his friends had forgotten to tell him
about the new banana peel fashion.

Dinovmeber 2019 Day 1:

One kid's trash is another Dino's treasure!
And one Dino's trash is another kid's treasure.
(Does anyone really like banana laffy taffy?!!!)
